Quercetin IV for Mast Cell activation
Summary
Quercetin IV therapy may be beneficial for modulating mast cell activation, a condition often associated with allergies. Mast cells play a significant role in immune response, but when overactive, they can cause issues ranging from hives and swelling to severe conditions like asthma and anaphylaxis. Quercetin, a plant-derived flavonoid, has anti-inflammatory and antihistamine properties and can be administered intravenously to block the release of histamine and other inflammatory molecules from mast cells. Studies have shown Quercetin IV reducing histamine and prostaglandin levels in allergy sufferers and reducing allergen-induced inflammation in the lungs. Quercetin may also have anti-cancer, anti-viral, and neuroprotective properties. Topics include: Quercetin IV therapy, mast cell activation, allergies, anti-inflammatory, antihistamine, histamine, prostaglandin, anti-cancer, anti-viral, and neuroprotective.
Here at Solcere, we have seen numerous patients who suffer from allergies, whether it’s a chronic allergy or seasonal allergy. So, we are all too familiar with the frustrating symptoms of mast cell activation. These tiny cells play a big role in our bodies’ immune response, but when they become overactive they can cause a range of issues from hives and swelling to more serious conditions such as asthma and anaphylaxis.
Quercetin for allergy relief
According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, in 2021, approximately 81 million people in the U.S. were diagnosed with seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever). This equals around 26% (67 million) of adults and 19% (14 million) of children. This is not including the population who suffers from chronic allergies such as psoriasis, pruritus, and eczema.
Benefits of Quercetin IV
Thankfully, we offer a potential treatment for mast cell activation. We call it the Quercetin IV!
Quercetin is a plant-derived flavonoid that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antihistamine properties. While it is also available in oral supplement form, it can also be administered intravenously for a more potent effect. The idea behind using Quercetin IV to treat mast cell activation is that it can help block the release of histamine and other inflammatory molecules from mast cells, thereby relieving the symptoms.
Quercetin and Mast Cell modulation
While there is still much research to be done, there have been promising studies showing the potential benefits of Quercetin IV on mast cells. One study published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology found that Quercetin IV reduced histamine and prostaglandin levels tremendously in people with allergies, while another study published in the International Journal of Immunopathology and Pharmacology found that Quercetin IV reduced allergen-induced inflammation in the lungs.
Of course, as with any treatment, Quercetin IV may not be the right therapy for everyone. It should only be administered under the guidance of a licensed healthcare professional, since it may interact with certain medications. However, for those who have not had success with more traditional allergy medications or are looking for a more natural alternative, Quercetin IV could be worth exploring.
Quercetin and cancer, viruses, and neurons
In addition to its potential benefit for mast cell activation, Quercetin has also been studied for its potential anti-cancer, anti-viral, and neuroprotective properties. So, while more research is still called for, there is certainly reason to believe that this powerful flavonoid could have a range of health benefits.
While Quercetin IV may not be a cure-all for mast cell activation, it is certainly a treatment worth considering for those who have not found relief through other means. As always, It is important to consult with one of our healthcare providers before starting any new treatment. However, if you’re struggling with the frustrating symptoms of mast cell activation, Quercetin IV could be a potential life-changer.
